Wild flowers has always been my primary subject matter. For many years I did not even realize that- I was just painting whatever inspired me that day, diving into the process fully possessed by the subconscious desire to capture the untamed nature. Was it my intuitive escape into my free and happy childhood? Perhaps.
And only not long ago I realized that it IS indeed my stepping away from societal expectations of an adult life with false stigmas and boxed roles we have to play. Sometimes even bend our personal boundaries.
And wildflowers? They are untamed, gentle yet oh so strong! And what survivors are they?!! And then, the blooms, the colors, the harmony, the pollinators buzzing around them…Whether it is that child within me or that wild woman, at times rebellious, but always oh so loving and passionate and genuine, but they both have been calling to break free, trust my intuition and reconnect with the natural world.
I am one of them. At times I am a daisy, at times - chicory, but most of the time - Queen Anne’s Lace.
Symbolism of the Queen Anne’s Lace flower:
1. Connection (tiny flowers held together in a circle, i.e. unity). Protection against negative forces.
2. Purity (grace, innocence, simplicity, subtle beauty) and Delicacy.
3. Femininity and Fertility (symbol of womanhood, fertility, nurturing as the carrot root is a food source).
4. Transformation, resilience, personal growth, evolving into more graceful and meaningful.
